Growing up in Brampton, Ontario has its ups and downs, like any city in the GTA. Six foot nine frontman, Mike Liorti, could explain all of that in a nutshell using only one word; ROSEDALE. Named after downtown Brampton’s Rosedale Ave, Mike and his friends invested many walks (over many different shoe sizes) on this mysteriously vintage street that links directly from the train tracks to the local music store; Long & McQuade Musical Instruments. Yes, ROSEDALE were those kids who had nothing better to do than to try out all the amazing gear of their dreams for hours and write tunes that sound not far off of bands like Taking Back Sunday, The Starting Line, and Blink 182. While this seemed like a phase that would pass to most, for Mike, it was actually what created a positive foundation of musicianship and a whole new world of entrepreneurial business skills… not to mention his intricate set up and eye popping light show.

From Lexington, NC
We are the folk-pop trio, Mattison, formed in 2010 in Conway, Ar. We are made up of singer and guitarist Skylor Swope, bassist and singer, Eric Tessener, and drummer, Devin Whitaker. We incorporate our influences including but not limited to bands such as John Butler Trio, The Color Fred, Mountain Goats, and The Avett Brothers to create our own unique sound. This gives us a good blend of toe tappers and skank dancers in our crowd. With several rough editions, we released our official demo “The Places We Go” on our Reverbnation page this year. We started gaining a local fan base after playing in a two day metal fest, which introduced us to a new crowd of good musicians and people. Our confidence as a universal band quickly grew when we landed a spot playing a showcase for The Conway Institute of Music. This showcase let student musicians get a taste of what playing a show felt like and allowed us to play to a diverse crowd of all ages. After playing a few more shows including ones with Arkansas’s underground heroes, Poisonwood, and Don’t Stop Please, the three of us agreed to move to our home state of North Carolina. Having released such bands as Between the Buried and Me and the Avett Brothers we are proud to be a part of the famous North Carolina scene. We are currently playing open mics and booking shows to put us on the map as a band.
