Advances in heart disease have fundamentally changed what it means to be a human being, allowing many to survive long after their own hearts have stopped beating. The science of the heart also mirrors the history of science at large, punctuated by setbacks and reversals. Haider Warraich will explore the merger of man and machine through the lens of cardiology, as well as how our relationship with science might change over time.

Former Duke cardiologist Haider Warraich is the author of State of the Heart: Exploring the History, Science, and Future of Cardiac Disease (St. Martin’s Press, 2019). He recently accepted a position at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Boston VA Medical Center.
